Miami, FL | 11.22.2013 | Sony Music won big at the 14th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, and broadcasted live by Univision network. Sony’s artists shone brightly in a plethora of Latin genres at the prestigious annual event honoring the best in Latin music. “Once again our artists made the difference and that brings us tremendous satisfaction,” said Afo Verde, Chairman and CEO of Sony Music for Latin America, Spain and Portugal. “We have bet on talent and tonight we saw that talent rewarded.” Sony’s talent was evident in the 48 categories recognized at the most-anticipated Latin music show of the year. After an absence from the music scene, Carlos Vives took home an amazing total of three Latin GRAMMY® awards: Best Tropical Fusion Album (“Corazón Profundo”), Best Song of the Year and Best Tropical Song of the Year (“Volví a nacer”). The eclectic Argentine group Illya Kuryaki & Los Valderramas, whose style includes rock, hip-hop, funk and soul, also walked away with a gramophone: Best Urban Song (“Ula Ula”). Natalia Lafourcade won for Best Alternative Music Album, and Best Long Format Musical Video and Best Album for “Mujer Divina – A Tribute to Agustín Lara.” Draco Rosa was recognized for Album of the Year for “Vida”. Marc Anthony conquered the Record of Year (“Vivir Mi Vida”); Vicente Fernández won the Best Ranchero Album Award (“Hoy”). Other Sony Music winners were Kany García (Best Engineered Album) and Vicentico (Best Rock Song). Sony Music stood out in awards for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Alternative Music Album. It scored big in areas like pop, rock, salsa, reggaetón, alternative, jazz, cumbia, vallenato and samba, among others. “We are always happy to know that their efforts are recognized,” said Nir Seroussi, Managing Director of Sony Music US Latin. “Our most sincere congratulations go to the artists and to all those who made this possible,” he added. One of the many peak moments at the biggest night in Latin Music was the spectacular performances of Draco Rosa and Ricky Martin, two of the most iconic performers in the world, who teamed up to sing “Más y Más.” Ricky also displayed his charisma in the star-studded extravaganza honoring Spanish singer songwriter and respected philanthropist Miguel Bose, who was honored as “Person of the Year.” Tropical music superstar Marc Anthony’s return to salsa was greeted with enthusiasm by the public. “Vivir mi vida” once more showcased his great talent and stage presence. The show’s musical numbers were often magical. Maluma won over the audience with his hit “La Temperatura” accompanied by Becky G. Natalia Lafourcade sang the iconic “María Bonita”, Carlos Vives performed “Volví A Nacer,” Wisin set the stage on fire with “Que Viva La Vida” and Yandel provoked the public with “Hasta Abajo”. Equally impressive was the duet by Wisin and Yandel singing “Algo que me gusta de ti.”, the Spanish revelation India Martínez made her debut on national television performing side by side with Enrique Iglesias and his song “Loco”; to complete the long list of Sony’s performing artists, Mario Domm sang along with the duet Jessie & Joy the number “Llorar.” Among the presenters were the talented and glamorous Julieta Venegas, Aleks Syntek, Illya Kuryaki & Los Valderramas, and Santana.
