Chocquibtown).

MELENDI Releases His Eighth Studio Album QUÍTATE LAS GAFAS

MIAMI (November 14, 2016) – If there’s one thing that the Spanish pop singer and songwriter Melendi is known for, it’s swinging for the fences. His compositions are more than songs – they’re anthems that make their way into a generation’s collective conscience. Quítate Las Gafas (Take Off Your Glasses) is not an exception. These 11 songs, written and produced by the artist himself, represent Melendi’s most personal and passionate observations.

Melendi took his time to make sure Quítate Las Gafas looked and sounded exquisite and stylistically coherent. This mindset infuses the lyric video and official music video of its first single “Desde Que Estamos Juntos” (Since We’ve Been Together), the preview for the track “Soy Tu Superhéroe” (I’m Your Superhero), and the eye-popping album art along with the well-designed 12-page CD booklet. The liner notes not only contain the lyrics, but a unique image that communicates the essence of each track. He has created huge social-media buzz with the reveals of each of these images, along with his unveiling of the title and artwork of the album and single. In fact, #QuítateLasGafas and #DesdequeEstamosJuntos became trending topics in Spain.

These 11 songs display Melendi‘s fluency with a variety of musical styles and lyrical themes.

He’s direct and powerful on “Hijos Del Mal” (Children of the Evil) and “Yo Me Veo Contigo” (I See Myself With You). He is romantic and perceptive on “Flores De Agua Y Plomo” (Flowers of Water and Lead), “Destino O Casualidad” (Fate or Coincidence), “Un Amor Tan Grande” (A Love So Great), and “La Casa No Es Igual” (The House is Not the Same). The funk-influenced track “Soy Tu Superhéroe” cuts loose, while Melendi achieves an epic feel on “Existen Los Ángeles” (Angels Exist) and the title track. Caribbean influences abound on “Desde Que Estamos Juntos” and “Mi Mayor Fortuna” (My Greatest Fortune, feat. ChocQuibTown). The album is produced by Melendi and Luca Germini, with photography by Pedro Walter.
