For many, music is a pathway to something new — a way of finding and learning more about oneself. This is no different for Mexican-born singer, songwriter, and performer, Mariangela. The singer, who’s from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, with a jarocho background and has lived in Texas for most of her life, pulls inspiration from the world around her to create music that stems from a place of raw, honest unfiltered truth. Growing up Mariangela was surrounded by a myriad of musical influences from both Latino and Anglo acts due to the love for music that her parents instilled in her.
Despite being surrounded by the popular alternative music of Monterrey, she was able to grow up with the musically rich sounds of Veracruz (where her father was born). Because of these many influences, she was able to immerse herself in several different genres like folk, classic/grunge rock, pop, Mexican folklore, boleros, country, indie music and even regional Mexican regional. This in mind, Mariangela gravitated to artists and bands like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Natalia Lafourcade, Stevie Nicks, Mazzy Star, Natalia Jiménez, Pink Floyd, and Pearl Jam.
Mariangela spends a good part of the day listening to new and old music alike — absorbing and learning from it in what she describes as “her search for the perfect tune or lyric.” She also further immerses herself in the art of poetry, reading from the classics in both Spanish and English like Jaime Sabines and Mario Benedetti, among others.
Mariangela reveals, “I love to create music that brings peace to people and makes them feel less alone.” Through her music, she seeks to write in a way that paints a scenic and emotionally moving picture that will resonate with global audiences everywhere in a way that relevantly encapsulates emotions that many have felt throughout their lives. The vibe and essence she would like to create with her music are ones that focus on a collection of folksy and understated sounds that will be layered under honest, confident, and emotionally moving lyrics that connect with nature and everything that surrounds her.
Mariangela is a self-taught instrumentalist who can play both the guitar and the piano — two instruments that assist her with her writing process. She describes her music as a way for her to experiment with different genres and merge them into a way that creates a universe where she and her fans can connect on a deeper level through their collective love of music.

Para muchos artistas, la música representa un camino hacia algo nuevo — una manera de encontrarse y aprender más sobre uno mismo. Así lo fue para la cantante, compositora y artista mexicana Mariangela. Nacida en Monterrey, Nuevo León con ascendencia jarocha, Mariangela radica en Texas desde su niñez. Ella se inspira en el mundo que la rodea para crear música que se nutre y se florece con la pura verdad sin filtro. En su infancia Mariangela tuvo a la música latina y anglosajona como referentes musicales gracias al amor al arte que le inculcaron sus padres.
A pesar de estar rodeada de la escena alternativa de Monterrey, Mariangela creció con la riqueza musical de Veracruz, la tierra natal de su padre. Gracias a estas influencias, tuvo la oportunidad de sumergirse en diversos géneros como el folk, rock clásico, grunge, pop, folclor mexicano, boleros, country, música independiente e incluso regional mexicano, escuchando a artistas como Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Natalia Lafourcade, Stevie Nicks, Mazzy Star, Natalia Jiménez, Pink Floyd, y Pearl Jam.
Pasando una buena parte del día escuchando música nueva y vieja, Mariangela la absorbe y aprende de ella en lo que ella describe como su “búsqueda de la melodía o letra perfecta”. Además, se inmersa en el arte de la poesía, leyendo clásicos en inglés y español de escritores como Jaime Sabines y Mario Benedetti, entre otros.
Mariangela afirma que, “Me encanta crear música que le ayude a la gente sentir paz y los haga sentir menos solos”. Ella procura componer de una forma visual, pintando un retrato escénico y conmovedor con el cual se identificará el público en todo el mundo. De manera relevante, su música expresa las emociones que muchos hemos sentido. Busca crear una vibra y una esencia de sonidos acústicos y matizados que forman los cimientos de una letra honesta, emotiva y segura de sí misma que conecta con la naturaleza y todo lo que la rodeerodea.
Una instrumentista autodidacta, Mariangela toca la guitarra y el piano, instrumentos que le ayudan cuando compone.
