Miami, FL (6 de septiembre, 2012) - El 2012 trae consigo uno de los grandes acontecimientos musicales del año dentro de la música en español: el lanzamiento de ‘Viva la Vida’, el nuevo disco de Vikki Carr, la extraordinaria intérprete ganadora de tres premios Grammy por sus discos ‘Simplemente Mujer’, ‘Cosas del Amor’ y ‘Recuerdo a Javier Solis’.

Vikki Carr, ganadora también del premio Grammy denominado "Lifetime Achievement Award", en reconocimiento a toda una vida de trabajo y entrega dentro del ámbito musical, es una de las más grandes voces del género romántico, y hoy vuelve a Sony Music, la casa discográfica que tantos álbumes clásicos y trascendentes le ha grabado a lo largo de su admirable carrera.

‘Viva la Vida’ es un álbum realmente extraordinario, producido por la propia Vikki Carr y por José Hernández, reconocido por sus colaboraciones con estrellas como Vicente Fernández, Selena, Juan Gabriel y Willie Nelson, entre otros grandes artistas.

Con este nuevo disco, Vikki Carr celebra la vida en grande, al tiempo que reconoce y rinde un homenaje musical a su herencia latina, de la que se siente profundamente orgullosa. ‘Viva la Vida’ incluye canciones inéditas, mezcladas con auténticas joyas del cancionero latinoamericano, como tributo a su esposo y a sus fans.

Cada una de las canciones del disco fue elegida por una razón especial. El álbum comienza con el tema que da nombre al disco, “Viva La Vida”, escrita por una de las compositoras más destacadas del momento, Claudia Brant (Ricky Martin, Santana, David Foster).

"Viva La Vida" no es un tema de ritmo movido; es más bien una canción con un mensaje para levantar el ánimo y dar esperanza.

Algunas otras de las sorpresas que podemos disfrutar en este gran álbum, son: “Sensaciones”, de la autoría del maestro Roberto Livi, y “Ay Amor De Mis Amores”, un tema clásico del inolvidable José Alfredo Jiménez, además de un maravilloso popurrí llamado “Mis Raíces”, que es un tributo a México y un amoroso homenaje a las raíces mexicanas de Vikki Carr a través de sus abuelos.

Todos los temas del disco cuentan con el magistral acompañamiento musical del Mariachi Sol de México, dirigido por José Hernández, coproductor del álbum. También participa la Sinfónica Nacional de las Américas.

A manera de bono adicional, el disco estará disponible también en una versión de lujo limitada, que incluye 12 canciones seleccionadas personalmente por Vikki Carr, de entre sus grabaciones anteriores con Sony.

De igual manera, la cantante ha escrito interesantes notas personales que están incluidas en el folleto del disco, en las que hace comentarios sobre cómo fue la grabación de las distintas canciones.

Miami, FL (September 6, 2012) - One of the most important musical events of 2012 is about to take place: the release of Viva la Vida, the new album by the legendary Vikki Carr. She is a three-time Grammy winner for her albums Simplemente Mujer, Cosas del Amor and Recuerdo a Javier Solis.

Vikki Carr is also a recipient of a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her decades of work and contributions to music. One of the greats of romantic song, she returns to Sony Music, her musical home, where she’s created so many iconic records over her storied career.

Viva La Vida is a truly extraordinary album, produced with the utmost virtuosity by Vikki Carr and José Hernández, who is renowned for his collaborations with Vicente Fernández, Selena, Juan Gabriel and Willie Nelson, among others.

With this remarkable new album, Vikki Carr celebrates life in style, while paying tribute to her Hispanic heritage, which she has proudly emphasized throughout her career. Viva La Vida comprises new songs, along with classics of the Latin American songbook in dedication to her husband and fans.

Every song on this album was carefully selected for its own special reason. The album opens with the uplifting title track, “Viva La Vida,” written by none other than the incredible songsmith Claudia Brant (Ricky Martin, Santana, David Foster).

“Viva La Vida” isn’t meant to be a rhythmic song. Its purpose is to lift our spirits and give hope.

Other surprises we can savor on this album include “Sensaciones,” written by the maestro Roberto Livi and “Ay Amor De Mis Amores,” written by album co-producer Jose Hernandez. Vikki Carr also includes a poignant and lively medley titled “Mis Raices” that pays tribute to her Mexican roots, which come by way of her grandparents.

All of these songs feature musical accompaniment by Mariachi Sol de México, directed as always by José Hernández. The National Symphony of the Americas also performs on several songs.

She’s also contributed some very revealing liner notes to this deluxe edition which give us insight into the recording process.
