There are bands with interesting back-stories and without a doubt “La 5ª Estación” is one of them. They have made Mexico their home, where they live, create and play their songs … “We believed in the project,” comments Natalia. “When we still didn’t have anything we would imagine that it would be well received in Latin America, but we never thought that we’d cross the Atlantic so fast. All of a sudden we got a contact in Mexico and we went there to record.”

By the end of 2002, they had recorded their first album in Madrid, produced by Alejo Stivel. Entitled, “Primera Toma,” the album was solely released in Mexico. The first single, “Donde Iran,” was chosen as the soundtrack for the youth soap opera “Clase 406.”

This positively resulted in the group’s doorway into Mexico’s market. However, there was much more to La Quinta Estacion than just one soap opera soundtrack. As such, they managed to position themselves in the country’s Top Ten for several months with their follow up singles, “No Quiero Perderte” and “Perdición.”

While this was taking place the band continuously played live shows, earning public recognition for their vocal power and quality as authentic artists and talented musicians having plenty to say.

They claimed their own spot in the music scene and earned respect for their band name entirely on their own accord, bringing together thousands of people at various massive events around the country (such as their performances at the Zocalo del D.F., Monterrey Macro Plaza, and Plaza Mexico, among others).

Later on, the band would have their first film breakthrough featured on the soundtrack of “Dame Tu Cuerpo,” a motion picture starring Rafael Sanchez Navarro and Luz Maria Zetina. La 5ª. Estacion created a very personal version of “Si Yo Fuera Mujer,” which ultimately became the soundtrack’s main theme. Likewise, the band was invited to participate in a tribute album to “Hombres G”, with their version of the song “Voy a Pasarmelo Bien,” continuing to add success to their accomplishments.

Nevertheless, the time came for La 5ª. Estación to demonstrate and pour the creativity and maturity they had gained along the way into a new project. It was then, around the end of 2003, that they began planning and writing the songs for what would become their second album.

In February 2004 “Flores de Alquiler,” their second album, which the band chose to produce entirely in Mexico, was completed. It included eleven fresh self-authored songs that definitely reflected their enormous growth on both, a musical and a poetic level.

In “Flores de Alquiler,” Natalia’s voice comes through impeccably more mature and trained guided by Armando Avila’s production (Ana Torroja, Aleks Syntek, “OV7” Natalia Lafourcade, Kabah, among others). Very similarly positive results were accomplished on the music end as well.

As “La 5ª. Estación” lived in the Distrito Federal for over a year and traveled to every corner of the country, it could be said that conceptually, “Flores de Alquiler” pays homage to Mexico. The influence of the culture in the music is evident, like a spell gone right that makes this new release even more appealing.

“Flores de Alquiler” yielded the singles “El Sol No Regresa,” “Algo Mas” (the song that proved La 5ª Estación to be a band of exceptional quality after staying at the top of the charts for several months in 2004 and 2005) “Daria,” and “Niña.”

There was only one possible step for La 5ª. Estación to take next, a challenge that filled them with high hopes: to bring their music to their homeland. It was the song “El Sol No Regresa” that would open those doors, keeping them at the Top Ten of the Spanish charts for over 4 weeks. The band also participated in the “Mediatic Festival,” was invited to open a show for Avril Lavigne at the “Auditorio del Parque Ferial Juan Carlos I” and partook in the “La Gira de la Zona 40 Tour,” sponsored by Los 40 Principales (Spain’s most important radio station). This took them to several cities, including La Coruña, Oviedo, Santander, Bilbao, San Sebastián, Alicante, Cartagena, Granada, and Malaga, among others. Along the way, they also made several promotional stops and played shows in various provinces of the Iberian Peninsula.

“Flores de Alquiler” earned the band innumerable honors and achievements: La 5ª. Estacion hit Double Platinum in Mexico, selling over 200,000 copies; and Platinum in the United States, selling over 200,000 copies there as well. They were given several important recognitions such as the Billboard Award for “Best Latin Pop Airplay, New Generation,” for their song “Algo Mas;” the ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) United States’s “Best Rock Song” award; and the “Orgullosamente Latino, People’s Choice 2005” award in the “Best Latin Group” category (an award voted on by the Ritmoson Latino channel’s TV audience).The album’s success was totally reflected by the extraordinary sold-out concert they gave at the Metropolitan Theater in Mexico City in April 2005.

At the end of that same year, they recorded their first live acoustic record, entitled “Acústico, La Quinta Estación,” with versions of hits such as “Perdición,” “Daria,” “El Sol No Regresa,” “Algo Más” and “Niña.” It was released in two formats: CD+DVD and DVD+CD, which include the live acoustic show, exclusive photos, the band’s bio and the videos for “El Sol No Regresa,” “Algo Más,” “Daría,” and “Niña.” The album reached Platinum in Mexico, selling over 100,000 copies and it is fast approaching Gold in the United States (100,000 copies).

Composers of their entire repertoire, admired for their live shows and their songs, “La Quinta Estación” is one of the few actual groups to get involved with each and every phase of their recordings. Their live sound has become characterized for being powerful and vibrant, something they have proven in more than two years of touring important venues like the Metropolitan Theater of Mexico City (2005), House Of Blues, Los Angeles in California (2005), Bellas Artes in Puerto Rico (2005) and Hard Rock Cafe in Miami (2006), just to mention a few of their stops while touring Latin America, the United States and Spain.

In 2006, their growth process continued coinciding with the cutting of “El Mundo se Equivoca.” This positioned them further in all the territories during 2006 and 2007, with more than 30 concerts per year during each summer.

This album yielded hits like “Tu Peor Error”, “Me Muero”, “Sueños Rotos” and “La Frase Tonta de la Semana.”

In 2007 as a result of their incredible job on this album, they received a number of honors and awards including the Latin Grammy for “Best Pop Album by a Group or Duo.”

In Spain, they were the most awarded band that year, receiving the Premio Ondas 2007 for “Best Latin Group,” the Premios Amigo for “Best New Group” and three Premios Principales for Best New Artist, Best Album, (El Mundo Se Equivoca) and Best Song (Me Muero). These honors now add themselves to their recent Latin Grammy win for Best Pop Vocal Album by a Duo or Group (El Mundo Se Equivoca).

In addition the song “Me Muero” was the highest selling and most popular ringtone in Spain in the year 2007 where they headed the charts for numerous weeks and completed one of the most successful tours of the year.

In 2008, during “El Mundo Se Equivoca” tour they performed over 30 sold out shows in Spain, earning them total recognition and success in their homeland, where their album reigned the top of the charts of Spain’s highest-selling albums for over 81 weeks.

At the end of 2008, the CD+DVD “En Directo Desde Madrid” was released, compiling the best footage from a major La 5ª Estación show in Madrid, at the very start of their career in their country that confirms their great quality as musicians and performers of their own songs.

It is in this way that these “immigrants of music” have earned an important place in the music scenes in Mexico, Spain and Latin America. With a career full of hits and awards, now “La Quinta Estación” returns with a new and extraordinary album entitled “SIN FRENOS.”

Uno de los grupos con mayores éxitos y reconocimientos en los últimos años ha sido, sin lugar a dudas, “LA QUINTA ESTACIÓN”, quienes a través de composiciones propias como “Algo Más”, “El Sol no regresa”, “Daría”, “Niña”, “Perdición”, “Me Muero”, “Tu Peor Error” y “Sueños Rotos” entre otras, ha logrado las más importantes posiciones de la radio además de ventas extraordinarias en Latinoamérica, Estados Unidos y España.

Este 2009, La Quinta Estación dan un gran paso en su carrera demostrando su gran crecimiento y madurez musical al presentar su más reciente material titulado “SIN FRENOS” que ha sido producido una vez más por Armando Ávila, con quien han conseguido formar una gran mancuerna y complemento a su trabajo.

Todos los temas han sido compuestos por Natalia Jiménez y Ángel Reyero, integrantes de La Quinta Estación, y presentan una maravillosa y armónica fusión de sonidos y ritmos que convierten a cada tema en una sorpresa a descubrir y un deleite para sus seguidores y público en general. Con su característico estilo musical y la inconfundible voz de su vocalista, el álbum “SIN FRENOS” es sin duda unos de los discos más esperados y prometedores en este 2009.

“SIN FRENOS” representa su 4to. álbum inédito en su carrera y una gran apuesta musical confirmada por 12 temas inéditos y una versión de uno de estos temas a dueto con Marc Anthony, uno de los máximos exponentes de la música latina en el mundo hispano.

El disco fue grabado completamente en la Ciudad de México y 4 de los temas incluyendo el sencillo (“Que te quería”. “Sin salida”, “Esta noche no” y “Mis Labios por tus piernas”) fueron mezclados por el muy reconocido Tom Lord Alge, quien ha realizado mezclas para artistas como Peter Gabriel, Korn, U2, Santana (Supernatural), Rolling Stones, Blink 182; Limp Bizkit , Leve 42 y The Cure entre una larga lista de colaboraciones.

El resto de los temas fue mezclado por Armando Ávila, productor del álbum.

El sencillo “Que te quería”, de un corte más rockero que lo que venían haciendo anteriormente, se encuentra ya en los primeros lugares de popularidad en México, Latinoamérica y España.

El álbum, que saldrá a la venta en el mes de Marzo próximo está conformado por los siguientes temas descritos uno a uno por sus autores:

“Es la canción que abre el disco y es muy distinta, más rockera a lo que habíamos hecho hasta ahora y habla de una relación pasada de alguien que intenta apegarse a algo que ya no es”

2.- “ME DUELES”- Autores Natalia Jiménez y Armando Ávila

“Es una canción que compuse en casa en la Ciudad de México y que la pensé para un mariachi y terminó siendo una fusión con mariachi y marimba. Creo que tiene mucha potencia en el estribillo, una de mis favoritas”.

3.- “MIS LABIOS POR TUS PIERNAS” Autores: Ángel Reyero y Armando Ávila

“El titulo es muy explícito aunque la canción puede ser más discreta. Es una canción muy pasional y la forma de narrarla es muy Pop para hacerlo más sutil si bien es cierto que el título impacta un poco. No se espanten que si pueden escucharlo los niños siempre y cuando los padres no se la expliquen”.

4.- “TE QUIERO” – Autores Natalia Jiménez y Armando Ávila

“Es una canción que le escribí a mi futuro esposo y la compuse inspirada en un boleto antiguo. Muy romántica y una de mis favoritas dedicada a todas las parejas que se quieren”.

5.- “SIN FRENOS”- Autores Ángel Reyero y Armando Ávila

“Es una canción que da titulo al disco y en la que intentamos retomar el sonido orquestal y de metales de Tu pero Error y fue la primera canción que trabajamos para este disco usando mucho sonido electrónico. Habla un poquillo de perder el control en un momento de la vida y de las consecuencias que puede conllevar y lo hemos seleccionado este título para explicar que es un disco en el que no nos hemos puesto frenos en este disco ni en la composición ni en la creatividad musical.

6.- “RECUÉRDAME”- Autores Natalia Jiménez y Armando Ávila

“Es una canción que habla del desengaño que te llevas cuando alguien te deja por otro u otra. Acuérdate de cuando me querías y ahora ya no me quieres que todo lo que decías era mentira….. Podría recordar un poco a las baladas de los años 70. Es una canción muy española.

7.- “ESTA NOCHE NO”- Autores Ángel Reyero y Armando Ávila

“Es una canción muy Pop, excesivamente pop en la que hemos querido rescatar un sonido más Bruce Springsteen y en la que hemos incluido un solo de sax. Decidimos arriesgarnos y creo que puede ser un posible sencillo por la velocidad con la que la gente se la aprende”.

8.- “ES CIERTO” – Autores Natalia Jiménez y Armando Ávila

“Es una canción que me gusta mucho porque es muy latina y espero disfruten mucho. Habla un poco sobre las relaciones en las que todo marcha muy bien y en esta canción en especial que todo lo que siento por esa persona es cierto”.

9.- “ME SUPIERON A POCO” – Autores Ángel Reyero y Armando Ávila

“Es una canción que intenta retomar de una manera intencionada el sonido de “El sol no regresa” y del disco Flores de Alquiler pero muy pop y mezclando un sonido medio country, medio ranchero y a mi personalmente me gusta mucho como ha quedado en el disco”.

10.- “QUIEREME MUCHO”- Autores Natalia Jiménez y Armando Ávila

“Es mi canción favorita del disco. Comenzó siendo un cha y terminó siendo una fusión de pop con ritmos latinos y creo que es muy original. Presten atención al solo de guitarra de Ángel que se luce muchísimo y tomen a quien tengan cerca y pónganse a bailar con Quiéreme Mucho.

11.- “ENGAÑAME” – Autores Natalia Jiménez y Armando Ávila

“Es la canción más retro de este disco. Recuerda un poco a las baladas españolas de los años 70 y 80`s como las de Camilo Sesto y Nino Bravo. Es una balada bastante española. A mi me gusta mucho porque creo que mi registro de voz cambia mucho con esta canción y es de mis favoritas.

12.- “SIN SALIDA” . – Autores Angel reyero y Armando Ávila

“Es una canción que fue un descarte del disco pasado. En un prinicpio se llamaba “Relaciones Suicidas”. Habla de la gente que se empeña en tener relaciones con alguien que no encaja bien y terminan llevando una relación muy destructiva. Es una canción bastante rockera.
