Marc Anthony is the most influential artist of his generation. And indeed the most eclectic, becoming not only the biggest selling salsa singer of all time, but a great theater and film actor and a producer as well.

His bilingual roots turned him into an accomplished singer, always in search of the perfect groove, a soulful rhythm and a spiritual delivery. Whether in the recording studio or on stage, Marc Anthony's voice is a powerful instrument of joy.

Marc Anthony started writing songs in his teens. His first hit on the charts was Boy, I've Been Told, which gave him the opportunity to become an adventurous musician. In 1991, he teamed up with producer and DJ Little Louie Vega to record When the Night Is Over, a Latin r&b and hip-hop album featuring guest appearances by Tito Puente and Eddie Palmieri. It created such a stir that maestro Puente invited him to be the opening act at a Madison Square Garden concert to celebrate Puente's 100th album release.

When Marc Anthony recorded Otra Nota in 1993, he changed the history of salsa. The album, produced by Sergio George, proved that the genre needed some fresh air and indeed a new voice. Two years later, Marc Anthony released Todo a su tiempo, another smash album with producer Sergio George. It reached the #1 slot on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart. Yet it was Contra la corriente (1997) that became the blockbuster album for Marc Anthony, who took home a Tropical Latin Album Grammy in 1998 for the record. In 2001, he released the hit album Libre.

Driven in part by the crossover success of his smash single I Need to Know, Marc Anthony, his English language debut, helped usher in 1999's Latin pop explosion, and has gone on to achieve triple platinum status in the U.S. Mended, 2002's English language successor to Marc Anthony, debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 the week of its release in May 2002 and has gone on to sell more than 1.3 million copies worldwide.

Marc Anthony's Spanish-language pop album, Amar sin mentiras shared a song set list with its salsa-flavored sister collection, Valió la pena. Both albums were released in 2004 and each reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. Amar sin mentiras won the 2005 Grammy Award for Latin Pop Album of the Year.

Marc has also established a highly credible acting résumé and may be seen in Martin Scorsese's “Bringing Out the Dead” (1999); opposite Selma Hayak in the Showtime original film, “In the Time of the Butterflies” (2001); and appears with Denzel Washington and Christopher Walken in director Tony Scott's “Man On Fire” (2004). He also appeared in the 1997 Paul Simon musical, “The Capeman.”

Marc Anthony starred as the Puerto Rican salsa pioneer Héctor Lavoe, with Jennifer Lopez as Puchi, in the upcoming biopic, “El Cantante,” directed by Leon Ichaso. “El Cantante” movie soundtrack was released on July 24^th on Sony Norte label. The soundtrack album remained on the #1 sales spot for 6 consecutive weeks and is still one of the top selling albums of 2007-2009.

Marc Anthony es uno de los artistas más influyentes de su generación. No solamente es el artista de música tropical que más producciones musicales ha vendido en su carrera, sino también es un talentoso y reconocido actor.

Marc Anthony inicialmente formó parte de las listas de popularidad radiales en el 1993 con su debut en el idioma español titulado “Otra Nota. El álbum ocupó la posición #1 en las listas de “Top Latin Albums” de la revista Billboard seguido por “Todo A Su Tiempo” (1995). En el 1998 recibe su primer Grammy por la producción tropical “Contra La Corriente” (1997) y en el 2002 obtiene varios Premios Billboard en las categorías de “Top Latin Albums/Artist of the Year” y en “Tropical Salsa/Album of the Year – Male por “Libre” (2001).

Marc Anthony también ha ocupado lugares de preferencia en el mundo de la música anglosajona con las producciones en el idioma inglés “Marc Anthony” y “Mended”. Su gran éxito a nivel global “I Need to Know”, de su album “Marc Anthony” fue uno de los vehículos que contribuyó a la explosión de la música Latina en el 1999. Esa producción le adjudicó discos de platino en los Estados Unidos y Mended (2002), proyecto en inglés sucesor a “Marc Anthony” debutó en la posición #3 en los Top 200’s de la Revista Billboard la semana de su lanzamiento y vendió sobre 1.3 millones de copias a nivel mundial.

El 3 de agosto del 2007, PictureHouse lanza “El Cantante”, el film dirigido por León Ichaso protagonizando a Marc Anthony como la leyenda puertorriqueña de la salsa Héctor Lavoe junto a Jennifer Lopez. El soundtrack de “El Cantante” fue estrenado el 24 de julio de ese mismo año bajo el sello Sony y se mantuvo en el lugar #1 en ventas por 6 semanas consecutivas y aún se mantiene como uno de los álbumes más vendidos entre el 2007 – 2009.
